Hello. This Is The Vid You're Looking For. Hmm...
The Shins Great New Music Video Makes Me Very, Very Happy. Hmm...
When I stood front row at their SXSW show earlier this year, this song blew me away. Its video, well, I guess lightning can strike twice.
The Assembly Now Has A Radio Station. Hmm...
It's the brainchild of a friend of mine in Cape Town (waddup Alana) and it's pretty flippen great. The Assembly is one of Cape Town's most popular music venues and now it looks like the party never has to end thanks to Assembly Radio - a 24 hour online radio station that, according to them is, "...definitely not the trash that infects our speakers every time we tune in to an FM station. With presenters that have long since sold out. And with programming and playlists planned by accountants, trend advisors and not music lovers." I've been listening for the last hour and I have to say they're pretty much right on the money. The music's been pretty great the whole time. Best of all, it streams super well, unlike a lot of other Internet radio stations. So far no interruptions. Only great tracks that I now want to have on my iTunes. But don't take my word for it, listen for yourself here.
The Most Honest Three & A Half Mins Of TV Ever. Hmm...
Written by the always brilliant Aaron Sorkin, Newsroom is HBO's latest and possibly most controversial show. I'm only a few episodes in, but I'm definitely hooked. I love the fact that Jeff Daniels, the same shmuck who played Harry in Dumb and Dumber, is now ripping it up as a take-no-crap news anchor of note, Will Macavoy. It's almost on par with what Bryan Cranston did going from Hal, the goofy dad in Malcolm In The Middle to Walter White, the shit-kicking meth cook in Breaking Bad. Great characters. Great writing. Great TV. Although for some reason, some people in the US seem to be on the fence about Newsroom. Guess it's hard staring into the mirror sometimes.
