Shell Proves It Knows Nothing About Social Media. Hmm...
Shell really are pricks. Or at least that's what the bright minds at Greenpeace will have us all think. It's all part of a brilliantly-conceived, but fake ad campaign they're running against the giant polluter's, I mean, oil company's drilling escapades in the ever-depleting Arctic. Greenpeace recreated an exact replica of the Shell website and filled it with all kinds of eyebrow-raising info about how much Shell hates icebergs. They even made a game for kids to play called Angry Bergs, where, you guessed it, you destroy icebergs to make way for oil rigs. Best of all, there's an ad generator page that lets you download a beautiful national geographic-type pic of the Arctic and add your own anti-Arctic headline to it if you like. You can then send it across the webisphere as if it's an ad from Shell themselves. Nice idea. Pity they broke with the gag only a few days into it. Would have been nice to have the "illusion" last a bit longer. I'd rather those pricks at Shell have the meltdown, if you catch my drift.
