What you're seeing is an art piece made up of 2.4 million pieces of plastic, about equal to the estimated number of pounds of plastic pollution that enter the world's oceans every hour. All of the plastic in this image was apparently collected from the Pacific Ocean and assembled by artist Chris Jordan to make what you see before you. The most impressive bit is on his site though, where you can actually zoom into the high-res version. Must have taken yonks to create this.
