Making Music WIth Barcodes. Hmm...

While QR and AR codes may get all the trendy tech love these days, the humble UPC barcode still has a glimmer of creative life left in it. An iPhone app called Barcodas lets you turn any UPC code into an electronic instrument. Just scan it with the iPhone's camera and those black bars instantly become makeshift piano keys that play.

Wieden + Kennedy, London recently had an epiphany, that they share initials with the royal couple William and Kate. Big whoop, right? Well, it is to them. So much so, some of their in-house designes (Jo Glover and Philip Cooper) decided to create a celebratory installation in the window of their Hanbury Street office.They made a spectacular six-foot high wedding cake based on Royal wedding cakes from the past. Yawn, right? You bet. Which is why they also built in an interactive souvenir postcard maker. Passers-by can make their own royal portrait and upload and share it on their special WKandWK Facebook page. That's more like it W + K.
