Gamble On Making The World A Kinder Place. Hmm...

DiceforChange is a new concept that attempts to change people’s behavior in a playful and positive way. Just roll the die perform the task, whether it’s buying a gift for someone or a simple smile at a stranger, you make the world a slightly better place every time.

The Evolution Of Skate. Hmm...

I'm no skateboarder by any means, but after watching this I wish I was one.

Ah, Tuesday. Hmm...

Slept in a little. Okay, a lot. About to hit Bikram then lunch/coffee at Cnr Cafe followed by an hour massage at Cloud 9 and then who cares... :)

My Walk On The Wild Side: A Horrid Poem. Hmm...

I took a walk today on the dark Grotto Trail... You could say it was straight out of a Tim Burton tale.

I saw long narrow pathways with spirally trees...

And giant red fruit with big juicy seeds...

Some even wore fur even even though it was Spring...

While boulders wore velvet with, well, everything...

Then I came upon a boy while lost in grayscale...

Who showed me the way out from this dark eerie tale...

To a land where the sunsets are one-of-a-kind...

Okay, two if you have a camera like mine :)

Life On The Outside. Hmm...

One week to go till I start my new job. Thought I'd hide out in this is the chalet for a while at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensburg.
Not quite the city sunset I'm used to...

... but it makes me happy!
Even made some new friends.

IDEO's Vision For The Future Of The Book. Hmm...

I Slept In A 150-Year-Old House. Hmm...

The night before driving through to the Drakensburg, we stayed in this old home in Harrismith. It's been fully restored and filled with antiques - most of which are for sale. These old-school tennis racquets for example were only R130 each. Bargain!

The doorway to the main bedroom. Creepy no? Must be why I slept like the dead.

Antiques adorning the walls of my bathroom.

Somewhere a scarecrow is walking around barefoot. Shame man.

The stoop outside my room.
The outside rock garden eating area.

Cool hey? Old vinyls as place mats.

A lovely antique typewriter. I made him an offer. He said no. What a bastard.

One of the crockery cabinets in the old-school kitchen.

Rad stained glass doors found in an old church in Harrismith.

And why not plant a bicycle in the garden?

The owner restored this 1948 Chevy. Super rad.

The Reality Of Holidays. Hmm...

So, today is my last day of work at Jupiter and I now have a week or so of me-time to just chill and enjoy myself before starting at my new job. In a few hours I leave for the great outdoors, to be all rugged and manly in the Drakensburg. At least that's the plan.

Here's to new beginnings...

The Drakensburg. Hmm...

Today, I escape.

My Beloved San Francisco. Hmm...

Oh, how I miss you.

Hmm... of the day

This week's been a lot like the pic above, and it's only Wednesday. See I'm the one seated waaaaay in the back, the last to see what lies ahead. With one day to go till the end of my work-life at The Jupiter Drawing Room, it seems I'm working harder than ever while trying to fit it all into the day with enough time to enjoy my life after hours. So far so good-ish. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully choc chip cookies.

LG Blu-Ray Viral Ad. Hmm...

Really rad! Well, until just before the end when I'm pretty sure the client stepped in.

Hmm... of the day

It's Fall In The States. Hmm...

And with it comes a ton of new TV shows for our viewing pleasure. Take last night:

How I Met Your Mother
Rules Of Engagement
Two And A Half Men
The Event (apparently the new Lost)
and many more hit the yankee airwaves.

Ahhh... I love the smell the downloading in the morning.

I'm So Happy I Fell Over. Hmm...

Nope. I'm dead. Probably due to my flippen long day at work ferrying a massive Monday hospital-pass in the form of a long copy ad, with  sudden half a day deadline. Add to that 90 minutes of Bikram, which I rocked btw, and then back to the harsh reality of said long copy ad, which according to my now 2:26 AM mind, I also rocked (We'll see in a few hours if that's true). All that said, looking at this photo now, I really should carpet my apartment. Teak is uber hard.

Hmm... of the day

Twangoo. It's what One Day Only wants to be. In a nutshell, Twangoo combs through your city and gets the most exclusive deals just for you and unlike One Day Only, they're valid for multiple days.  We're talking everything from meals prepared by top chefs, tickets to that sold out show to a pampering at your city’s most luxurious spa. Each day brings with it a new opportunity to save cash on amazing offers in the city you live in.

Munch. Hmm...

Nestled amongst the natural wonders of The Garden Shop Nursery (cnr Jna Smuts and Bolton) is Munch, an amazing little cafe/eatery with all the food and drink one could ask for and at super reasonable prices. They're open every day from 8AM till 5PM. Do yourself a favour and escape there once in a while. Bring your dog, your kids, your friends and most of all your appetite.

Sony Ericsson Takes On Other Smartphones And Wins. Hmm...

To prove their new Xperia X10 smartphone is the smartest on the market, they tested it on a number of less than intelligent people. The result? 5 focus group videos sure to put a smile on your face. This one is my favourite. See the rest on their YouTube channel.

Rad Typographic Posters. Hmm...

Say hello to Jerod Gibson's latest creation: a series of posters based on quotes from pop culture movies. Pretty awesome stuff. I bought The Simpsons one. :)

The Hardest Thing In The World. Hmm... Forrest Yoga. I don't care what anyone's told you about diamonds or Wolverine's ademantium claws. Tonight I flippen got my ass kicked, big time. No 40 degree heat to warm you up like in Bikram. No easy poses. Just pain and the welcomed thought that 90 minutes isn't that long. I bow my head to those of you who can do Forrest Yoga without flinching and it seems, from my class, there are quite a few of you. You're all up there with everyone else's imaginary friends. Amen.

Base Jumping The Eikesdalen Mountains. Hmm...

And I thought Bloukrans was nuts.

Hmm... of the day

My arms are open. Who wants some?

Surviving My 4th Bikram Class In A Row. Hmm...

This was by far the hardest class yet. Not because of the ridiculous poses nor due to the 40 degree heat. My pain and suffering was all thanks to the new instructor who looked, sounded and acted a lot like this yapping chihuahua above. She never shut up, not even when we were in the savasana pose where you're supposed to relax, breathe and focus to ready yourself for the next torturous bendathon. No. Yap, yap, yap, yap, yap. And when she wasn't inflicting verbal diarrhea, she would talk to people in baby-speak. I mean really, lady. You make me want to punch newborns.

Now, I know what you're thinking. I don't ever post negative content, but the way I look at it, I pushed through the abuse and survived the class without losing focus or running her over with my car and that alone is a wonderful thing, no?

Plus, one of my favourite songs ever came on as I started my car and that put me in a very, very good mood. At least for a few minutes. Thank you Pearl Jam.
