Granted they played a team called, ahem, "The Socceroos" but Germany has been the most impressive team to watch thus far in the competition. And about 12 of us watched last night at my apartment. We dined on German food and drank German beer. There was knaukwurst and nurnberger with hot german mustard, German salami, potato salad, yummy colelsaw (thanks Gia) German rye, some ementaler and more meat than I have space here to type out. Oh, we also had chops and beetroot as a little nod to the Aussies. We ended with a dollop of ice-cream on steaming home-baked apple crumble (thank you Martina) and for no other reason than it's just simply delicious, hot pecan nut pie (thank you Thrupps). A great night was had by all, well, unless you're a "Socceroo."
